RALLACS

RALLACS = Robotic Assisted Laser, Light Adjustable Cataract Surgery

RALLACS is the most modern way to have your cataract surgery performed. The two-step process takes only a few minutes with light sedation so you are comfortable throughout the process.

Step 1: A Robotic Assisted Laser holds your eye still, then builds a 3D augmented reality model of your eye. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used to generate a precise plan for opening and softening your cataract with a laser, preparing it for gentle removal, thereby clearing the cloudiness permanently, but also removing the eye's focusing power for a moment.

Step 2: A Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) is implanted where your cataract used to be to restore the focusing power of the eye. The LAL will have most of your glasses or contact lens prescription in it. After a month or two, when the healing is complete, your new lens can be fine-tuned non-surgically with ultraviolet light to sharpen your vision even further.
